From your first day of classes to the moment you enter the pharmacy community as a professional, you’ll experience a strong sense of connection. ƬƵ also offers a multitude of student organizations to help you develop personally and academically.
During your time as a College of Pharmacy student—and after graduation—you’ll find the support of a robust national alumni network. Alums of ƬƵ work in the Louisiana pharmacy community and in regional and national leadership roles.
Our alumni network is a valuable resource as you earn your Pharm.D. degree. Our graduates understand the rigors of a comprehensive pharmacy program, which is why they offer mentorship, job placement assistance and networking opportunities to help you reach your goals.

As a Historically Black College and University, ƬƵ was founded on the principle of diversity. Our enduring dedication to fostering, promoting and advancing equity is closely intertwined with our strong connection to the Louisiana pharmacy community.
The was formed to eliminate the disproportionate premature deaths and incidents of preventable illness for racial and ethnically diverse populations.
ƬƵ’s College of Pharmacy proudly partners with NMQF to host the New Orleans Community Health and Wellness Festival. This annual event provides free health screenings, updated vaccinations and nutrition education.

Communities where people feel connected are more likely to experience positive health outcomes, according to the . Supportive and inclusive relationships further enhance these positive outcomes.
ƬƵ College of Pharmacy’s Health and Wellness Center collaborates with the Louisiana pharmacy community and other healthcare professionals to offer screenings, education, and nutritional counseling for community members.
The Health and Wellness Center, an extension of the Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education, also allows students to apply what they’ve learned in real-world settings. This includes providing blood pressure, glucose, and other screenings at local health fairs and leading healthy cooking classes.
Additional Service Opportunities Through Co-Curricular Activities
Other ways you can complete your service requirements include:
• Volunteer opportunities with the , a summer camp for disabled children.
• Working with Federally Qualified Health Centers that offer chronic disease care.
• Assisting with the College of Pharmacy’s Telehealth Center, providing care to rural areas.
• Working as a member of the Health Education Ambassador Team (HEAT) under the Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research and Education.
